>>15126074Good match or not, it doesn't matter. The story would've carried it. I agree he didn't deserve to win against Adam Page because that's one of their biggest stars, but why'd they match him up against Page in the first place? Couldn't he have gone over Claudio the Jobber, then Gay Shite or another anti draw jobber in the semifinals before losing in the finals to a bittersweet end? I get he's 56, but he still has name value and looks good for a senior citizen, plus that legitimate real life story would've easily drawn interest.
>>15126092Yeah, that was my point. Like I said, was not expecting him to win it all and he definitely shouldn't have, but with so much legitimate emotion involved you'd think they'd at least try something.
>>15126199No one said he had to win, ya brainless retard. Like I said in the OP, all they had to do was tell a story about grief and acceptance over the coming weeks, he gets to the finals, loses to Danielson or Page, cuts a promo on something regarding said grief and acceptance, gets a standing ovation and rides off into the sunset. The details are for the AEW writers to fine tune, but this little angle was a complete waste and is basically the best way to sum up AEW as a whole.
