At this time WWE was struggling because Rock and Austin were on/off, Hulk Hogan had been fired and Cena/Orton/Brock/Batista weren't quite there yet. The country had invaded Afghanistan a couple years prior and the Iraq shit was kicking off. This indy kid created a gimmick that would freshen up the main event scene thereby saving WWE at that time and uniting the country by embodying all that was great about the USA. Mr America was born and that kid's name was Phillip Jack Brooks.
