They've never "played fair" when it comes to getting in the door but you don't usually see these "drop all your shit now" kind of moves for fairly big promotions like this either. Maybe it's different with Endeavor running the show, but Vince usually insisted on people finishing up their dates. Plus, unlike Tony, they have a board to answer to and aren't just going add another zero to your offer without jumping through hoops. It takes time.
It makes me think they've had an agreement in principle for a while and somehow kept it under wraps better than they did with Giulia, which even though every seemed to know where she was heading for a few months, it still took actual time for it to be official. This seemingly came out of fucking nowhere. Maybe it's something weird, or maybe a just case of "Bidding war means AEW has them for months" and "No News means WWE has had them for months".
