Sure we know a little bit about New Japan but mostly it’s just because we watched the old matches of Brock Lesnar in New Japan. We care less about the “sport” of wrestling and more about the “team”. It’s kinda like Patriots fans who aren’t really football fans as much as they are Captain America fans… it’s hard to describe in more detail than that but in layman’s terms… smarks in WWE are literally between the ages of 35 and 45 and we been watching or talking about WWE since the days of Miss Elizabeth and Randy Savages wedding(Despite popular belief this was the catalyst that sent wrestling into something other than grown men wrestling in tights). As far as “smarks” in AEW goes these are the kids that started watching wrestling in or around the same time, except they bought the wrestling magazines and watched ECW/WCW. They have more of a passion for the actual performance and less of a passion on the romance leading up to it if you will, these AEW smarks Mount Rushmore includes Booker T/HBK/Mankind/Chris Benoit Where as WWE smarks Mount Rushmore is Hulk/Hart/Austin/Cena. Also AEW smarks are notorious BBC worshipers. They are the ones who before AEW was a thing we’re practically worshiping the ground New Day walked on and even to this day you will never see a AEW fan disrespect the New Day. WWE smarks have a hard on for Edge and Christian, Hardy Boyz, Dudleyz, and LOD. So this whole “smarks” love Cody argument isn’t to mean to say AEW smarks. It is talking about WWE smarks. WWE smarks are loyal to the brand and to the story(including Codys). AEW smarks are loyal to whoever puts on the best performance in ring. While I will agree that in ring performance goes a long way… Hogan and to a greater extent Macho Man, proved that telling a fucking story is much more dimes than a performance ever
