CM Punk had to leave AEW without serving the entirety of his contract because of the infamous backstage altercation that got him fired. Tony Khan is known to offer high-paying contracts to wrestlers to prevent them from switching to another promotion. Now that Punk has had to switch to WWE, he may or may not be getting paid as much.
Meanwhile, one of his rivals in the Stamford-based company has become a top star and is rumored to be withdrawing a good salary. Ryback believes this may be causing a bit of jealousy to CM Punk.
Ryback discussed Drew McIntyre’s salary on his podcast. There were rumors that Tony Khan had offered him a multi-million dollar contract with some other perks. WWE had to pump up their offer to $4 Million to ensure McInture stayed with the promotion. This is something that Ryback believes can trouble CM Punk.
The retired wrestler mentioned how Punk has his merch and royalties that can continue generating revenue for him and can potentially keep his lifestyle maintained. However, Ryback also added,
>“He’s a very jealous individual. It’s crazy. It is. And that’s just how he is, he needs drama and conflict in his life to wake up every day, unfortunately. And it’s never going to, it’s never going to change.”While Ryback’s perception of Punk being jealous cannot be held right or wrong from afar, Punk looked quite happy for his now-on-screen rival when the latter first secured a championship for himself.
