>>8265939>This is such a flaccid argument because you can apply it to any sort of generic wrestling story that typically happens in a match.Yeah but that doesn't necessarily mean every story should be told the exact same way no matter how impressive the match. That is essentially what Okada's pro wrestling represents, a very impressive routine with a very similar winning formula every time. His matches are literally the definition of repetition and dullness, if you seen it once you've seen it a thousand times before and trust me I have.
>You're just making broad generalizations and ignoring any sort of nuance that happens in his matches because it supports your pre-existing bias. Not at all. I've watched him for years and in no way are his matches as compelling now as they were upon his rise as The Rainmaker, Okada unironically peaked by WK11 and quickly became tiresome in-ring after those Kenny Omega matches (generally speaking some of the most overrated Japanese wrestling matches in decades) which honestly really exposed Okada as being a one trick pony in many ways. At least Kenny Omega's career in Japan wasn't a total waste.
>That makes it sound like a pretty weak argument, as if you know it's bullshit and don't even entirely believe it yourself.Go ask any puroresu fan what they think of Okada who don't religiously watch New Japan, they generally all refer to him as the Japanese John Cena and it is honestly a fair comparison. He's really not that interesting once the bell rings, perhaps at one point that was true but if you are watching his work there's really not a whole lot of that nuance you speak of man, nothing more nothing less.
