Mox was stuck on house shows with no gimmick for about a year before the Shield came about. Punk was tweeting about Mox way back in 2012 when he was still working live events against Alex Fucking Riley of all people. The Shield were supposed to just be Punk's goons and he handpicked the group except for Roman who was forced on him. If Punk never took an interest in Mox and put Chris Hero in the Shield like he was going to, then Mox would have never made it as big as he has. He'd have been saddled with a Vince gimmick or left to rot in the early years of NXT.
