Endeavor had massive multi-billion dollar debt obligations going into the deal. $5bil of their own debt, plus however many billions more they borrowed before the merger to pay off Vince. IIRC it was like $3bil. So they're at least $8bil in debt. They bought out WWE because it was incredibly profitable and had very little debt exposure because Vince ran a tight ship for 40+ years.
There is No Chance In Hell they were ever going to let Vince stay as Chairman of the board with 49% ownership of WWE and collect $100mil checks every year when its not his company anymore. They didn't see him as a partner, they saw him as a leech, and they were never going to let him have a piece of that $5bil Netflix deal.
Vince fucked up and got in bed with people even more cut throat than himself.
