Does AEW value one time ratings too much over long term ratings?

I feel like the one big thing missing from AEW TV is I know a bit too much going in. I understand on paper saying things like “maybe don’t announce a few returns” sounds stupid. A big part of the wrestling boom in the 90s though was that you truly had no idea throughout the show who could debut, return etc. It wasn’t a mystery person people speculated on, it just happened. I think if AEW did a few surprise matches, maybe don’t tell us a couple injured guys are coming back and maybe even do a few of these things on rampage it could feel like a lot more of a must see show. It’s not a crime to book a few matches during the show built off something else from the show. A more healthy mix of spontaneous and built up would be nice.
