[Stardom] Utami Hayashishita's "sudden departure" from Stardom: "I told President Okada about it in December.
What happened to the fresh aces? On March 22, women's pro wrestling company "Stardom" officially announced that five members, including Utami Hayashishita (25), Giulia (30), MIRAI (24), Mai Sakurai (33), and Yuzuki (19), will leave the organization on March 31, when their contracts expire. The departure of Utami, who has been crowned World Champion of the highest group, caused quite a stir. She is expected to join a new organization that Rossy Ogawa (66) plans to launch after her departure.
--The announcement of your departure from the group was made.
>I apologize to the fans for the delay in the announcement. I was surprised, wasn't I? But I am not leaving because I am dissatisfied. President Taro Okada has been working very hard and making various improvements. I have been thinking about Stardom, which I love, and this year (August) will be six years since I debuted. I have been wrestling in the best environment, but there are things I couldn't do because of Stardom, and there are opponents I couldn't fight even if I wanted to. I made this decision because I wanted to change the environment here and wrestle for myself once again.
--When did you start thinking about it?
>Around last fall, I heard a rumor that Ogawa-san was going to leave Stardom and create a new organization. (Mr. Ogawa, who has been like a father to me since my debut (in August 2018) and who has brought me up to this point, is going to pursue a new dream. I felt that I must not give up and keep challenging myself, and I told President Okada that I would be leaving the organization in December.
