>[Stardom] Maika, who is currently absent for a long time, says the WWE Japan tour was the catalyst for her break from her alcoholism
>Maika of the women's professional wrestling group Stardom revealed how she feels during her absence.
>She has been absent since May due to undergoing surgery to reconstruct the medial collateral ligament in her right elbow, which had been bothering her for some time. Six months later, when she agreed to an interview, she said, "You're late coming to this interview! A lot has been going on... I'll tell you what I'm talking about, so listen," and sat on a swing in a park in the rain and began to speak.
>While promoting the organization since her absence, Maika underwent successful surgery on her right elbow in early June. She subsequently appeared in good spirits, guest commentating at fan events and tournament PPVs. However, she revealed that she was troubled by her first extended absence since her debut in May 2019 and suffered from mental illness. "While I was hospitalized, I tried to escape from my room three times but was stopped by the nurses... After I was released from the hospital and 5STAR began, I worked as a guest commentator, but I realized how inadequate I was to not be able to step into the ring as the previous year's champion, and for the first time in my life, I became mentally ill. After 5STAR ended, I couldn't watch pro wrestling anymore, and even after the cast was removed, I couldn't use my right hand properly. The various stresses piled up, and I was drinking four liters of alcohol every day... I had no choice but to drown myself in alcohol," she recalled.
