I've read some of his turn-of-the-century notes and he's very critical of everything going on in Japan at the time (AJPW split, Inoki being WCW-tier). I think he has a semblance of the "neutral journalist" but in most industries there's a divergence between the news reporter (objective) and the comment writer (subjective) but given he has mainly worked alone for years, he does both, leading to some confusion.
