Hey new guys, welcome to /pw/
I know some new posters are here because they tried out wrestlemania. sorry but this board watches AEW, its like wrestlemania but better.
Heres what you need to know before you watch and post here, and why we like it more than wrestlemania.
AEW always goes right into the action with the first match being a 15 min "party match".
A hard-hitting women's division.
every performer being very over.
The crowd being super engaged throughout the show.
A big focus on fast-paced sports style action with a lot of spot wrestling, since a lot of wrestlers came up in that environment.
AEW's biggest strength is the variety . Every match will be different. Guevara vs Kommander will be a spot fest. Hayter vs Riho will be hard-hitting. Gunns vs FTR will be old-school. HOB vs Friends is a party match with many styles involved.
A lot of brawls. This is to set up future matches
People showing up regularly that aren't part of the official AEW roster. AEW embraces the fact that there's a vast wrestling world outside of AEW. Commentary will always give a short introduction to those people.
promos that feel real. no scripts they need to follow.
A lot of factions to showcase as many people as possible.
What not to expect
Things being spoonfed to you. There's not going to be recaps of what happened last week. Commentary usually talks about the history of wrestlers and what led to a match. People are encouraged to watch the "Road to" series on AEW's YouTube to get up to speed with the current storyline developments .
Badly acted, lengthy backstage talking segments. 30 second segments setting up matches, where wrestlers are interviewed, or talk into the camera.
Everything overproduced. AEW has high production value, but not making the show an eyesore.
Talk show segments and other rubbish
Welcome aboard guys and enjoy wrestling again!
