I've been watching NJPW since G1 2020 and I've never seen Ospreay call back to that stupid Ricochet pose off spot before he came to AEW. He probably does it because that's the only thing most AEW fans have seen of him; I wouldn't be shocked if the money mark asked for it personally.
In Japan he still incorporates those really fast sequences, particularly when he wrestles Shingo, but they are generally coherent sequences of moves and reversals. To people saying "post-clue" Ospreay is a myth I would suggest watching his match with Ibushi last year; even against the other most flippy heavyweight in the company he goes (I think) the entire first half of the match without a flip or dive.
In conclusion, fuck trannies and edrones, Ospreay is based and his AEW work is the equivalent of Cobain blatantly not bothering to lipsync as a fuck you to the show. His Hogan vs Michaels-tier selling (which he doesn't do in Japan either) practically confirms this.
