If you want to build a match, you have a story going into it. Maybe the guys collide walking past each other backstage and have a staredown. Maybe one guy cuts a promo disrespecting the other guy. Maybe you build on past history between the two guys.
There are a million ways to build a feud.
I have wanted this match for years, Danielson and Shibata, but never in my head did I imagine it would be a random heatless, feudless match as a one-off, instead of a meaningful story with both of these guys showing their passion for pro-wrestling the entire way.
This is unironically almost the worst case scenario for this match happening and I'm sorry you don't understand the significance of that.
