>>17883065I wrote this post, my friend. And I was at the show tonight. I've watched her since her first vignette appeared on NXT and she laid out her Morrigan gimmick. But this basically vanished when she got to the main roster naturally, since she's just thrown out there and told to sink or swim. Becky has thrown her a lifeline IMO with this feud to try and build sympathy for her. But as it is, nobody knows WHY she's a bird or WHY the crowd should "woo" for her. That's what is missing, and it can't just happen through her beating opponents. It can only happen through her microphone work. She has to write her promos to have interesting fire and she has to adjust her delivery MATCH the character that she wants to portray.
Look at Iyo Sky. Without strong English, she has won BOTH major world championships and is recognized worldwide for her brilliant professional wrestling skills. Her promo "skill" is arguably almost non existent in the traditional sense. But watch her "underwater" vignette. Listen to what she is actually saying here, and FEEL what she is saying. And because it all came true, this promo was the moment the world knew that the title belongs to her. Submerged in the deep, she then surfaces. She hasn't gotten an underwater vignette since she was on NXT. It's been years. How many times has Iyo lost matches on TV? How many times has she been set back? How many friends has she lost? How many storylines has she gone through, all without any English? And through all of that time, she built and built and built her foundation of her persona. Now, there aren't many in the world who can knock her off the top of the mountain. She enters any building and wins the crowd over big with pure athleticism and electric physical charisma.
