Two goons stand guard near to a door that leads to Cassie Kade's penthouse. The elder of the two, a grizzled Irishman, chuckles as he glances at the other, a lean, blonde young man who looks completely out of place next to him.
"Never seen you before. First day, yeah?" asks the Irishman.
The younger man nods.
"Whereabouts you from then?"
"Here. Spaghetti Town," is the reply.
The Irishman shakes his head. "No idea what she sees in boys like you. How'd you get the gig?"
The younger man shrugs. "Ms. Kade came by and watched a session at a wrestling school I'm training at. When the session was done, she gave me her number and offered me a job. I need the money to continue my training, so it was a no brainer."
"Took me years to build up enough trust to work this close to the boss," the Irishman replies, "yet here you are on your first day. Well, you didn't earn this and you clearly don't belong, so you won't last with Kade. She don't tolerate screw ups, the lad you're replacing had to learn that the hard way. What's your name anyway?"
"I'm Connor. Umm, what happened to the guy I'm replacing?"
"She killed him. No idea why, must have done something to piss her off. I had to clean him up meself." The Irishman sneers at the younger man. "One day I'll be cleaning you up just the same."
A chill runs down Connor's spine. This job pays well and he needs the money if he's ever going to achieve his dream. But that money won't be any good to him if he's dead.
