The US has more non-gun murders per capita than most first world countries have overall (including gun murders). Even if gun control managed to 100% remove all gun deaths (which it of course wouldnt), we'd still be a shithole by first world standards. There's also no correlation between rate of gun ownership and murders per capita on a state basis. In fact, it's slightly negative (although, again - statistically insignificant). Even when ONLY counting gun deaths, there's no correlation. (I collected this data in 2019 btw, so some of it is likely out of date)
