>>14981618To a degree, yes, but not to the point of I'M LE BETTER THAN YOU hokey shit, and even if they were it's interesting to see professional wrestling's take on it. Angry employee vs corpo boss was a story as old as time yet Austin vs Vince was the first time it was done in wrestling (at least on a larger platform and not in front of 500 hicks) and it drew so many dimes that it basically catapulted Austin and Vince into perma pop culture status. The Cody Rhodes "my daddy wanted to accomplish a goal but never could quite do it now I'll give it my all to accomplish it and honor him (among other things)" story was also something that's probably been feautured in a lot of media but it's the first time to happen in wrestling to my knowledge so of course it garnered a lot of attention. I'm le better than you is a thing that's happened about an unironic million times in pro wrestling and over time it loses its charm.
>>14981627It's just evidence of fucking creative bankruptcy. The only time those stories ever worked was shounenshit and wrestling isn't and never will be shounenshit.
>>14981648Benoit vs Michaels sucked so much that they had to shoehorn in Triple H to add a modicum of entertainment to the story.
