>>18596167I think we are already in a some sort of post-irony cringe-nostalgic era, not sure if that's the right way to describe it that costumes are getting more over, they aren't seen as hokey but something to embrace as adding to the color of people in black pants and shin pads playing tough, and it's slowly creeping up on main roster and people are actually asking for it with their wallets.
The audience is responding to characters more than dudes wearing just a colorful signature outfit with a character. We got more exposure than ever on the mainstream to guys from AAA like Iguana, Psycho Clown. TNA's got Hometown man, Luchasaurus in AEW or wherever he is.... on a milk carton. Anyway, there's clearly a market for costume gimmicks
Bucks and Orange Cassidy I'd count as people who are doing the irony part of that post-irony, like their gimmicks are cringe because they are self-referential and aiming at pleasing indie marks rather than some mixture of kids appeal and being original and colorful.
