Cody and his wacky ass feuds and title reigns make a lot more sense if you think of him as the collective self-insert character of the entire so called WWE universe playing IRL career mode.. An avatar of the audience to experience the contempt the booker, management and writers have for them. He has no real agency in stopping the rug pulls and plans changing on him between the dictated playable matches. All he can do is exist in the limbo between endless vidya cutscene where control is wrestled out the hands to show bigger and more fantastical events that the director thinks is cooler than anything you could do. When they are finally done showing you the big moments, you'll get to play a small series of matches but the next long cutscene is looming right after that. Sorry kid, you gonna have to give the belt away for that to look cool.
