I don't think the timing of the shoe spot was the problem, but rather that they cheapened it by having her beat Ruby with them first. The cat's out of that point, even if there was a hidden shoe. Should've sprayed her instead. I know you shouldn't do the same gimmick twice in the same match, but I'd argue that you could play that up better as an eye-for-an-eye thing if she goes directly after Ruby (or they could've just beaned Toni with an empty can).
