Moral in the WWE continues to be at record lows. The backstage area is divided with some people being horrified and disgusted that Vince brought Cody back and others welcoming him back and hoping he might the last best hope of getting rid of Roman Reigns monopoly on the top spot.
Roman's "injury" last night was fake, part of a long term gambit to avoid having to drop one or both of the belts to Cody.
Right now the plan is to have Roman be referred to as only the Universal Champion, with an out to have him drop the WWE title if necessary.
Part of the issue with Roman is that Cody's contract gives him creative control on par with Roman's. And a guaranteed World title run. Heyman in particular is actively working against Cody, due to the fact that he fears a Cody/AJ alliance forming on Raw as AJ still holds a massive grudge against Heyman over backstabbing him regarding the firing of the Goode Brothers.
Roman has also been seen with Seth Rollins behind the scenes. Rollins is in the anti-Cody camp and if Roman is unable to just go on indefinite sabbatical as champion, expect Seth to suddenly move back to Smackdown and have a lengthy feud with Roman if Brock does not come back.
