As the story goes Scotty had curtain jerker match with a jobber at a house show. According to reports the guy was disrespectful towards Scotty backstaged and "uncooperative" in the ring. Aka he was no selling all of Scotty's shit. This drove Scotty into a rage and he started stiffing the guy, eventually spiking him on the top of his head with a bulldog. At this point the dude was visibly concussed and Scotty had to drag him into the middle of the ring to set him up for the worm. So he lays him there and does his schtick, W-O-R-M HOO HOO HOO and he comes down on the kid with such force that he caves in his sternum and makes him spew out a great big gout of blood at the moment of impact. After the match they carted him off the emergency room and he died 48 hours later from his injuries.
Paul London talked about it in one of his shoots a few years later. He said it was the maddest he's ever seen Scotty, that he was usually a laid back guy but on this occasion he was outright terrifying. London joked that the jobber was killed by "taking a shoot worm straight to the chest". Unfortunately the interview has been scrubbed from the internet and you can't find it anywhere anymore. Regardless this is still a dark moment in wrestling history that has been all but forgotten in recent years.
