The old attendance numbers are also very suspicious. There's no doubt that was their golden era in terms of attendance and revenue but companies around that time were also claiming that they sold 3k tickets at Korakuen. Basically take all numbers before 2016 with a grain of salt.
All business went down because of the pandemic. Basically only Stardom and TJPW are above 2019 level, and also Noah, but that's not saying much because Noah was doing really bad around that time and 2023 was heavily carried by Mutoh's retirement tour.
Wrestling is indeed huge in Japan. Nowhere else you'll see that many companies running that many shows throughout all year, especially considering that the market isn't as spread out as the American. It's just that they're in a rebuilding period and it'll take a while to come back to their previous heights.
