The Shin Inoki Gun was established by Takayama in that year. At that time, he was the IWGP champ, and an outsider, so Tenzan wanted to defeat him and take back the belt. Tenzan won the G1 and had the right to do that, but Takayama complained that such a match is heatless with someone like Tenzan. Inoki agreed. Takayama, as I said, established the Shin Inoki Gun, which he said that its purpose was to destroy the current NJPW and establish a new style of wrestling. Inoki then booked a 5-on-5 tag match with them and Hontai, lead by the returning Sakaguchi. And as you watched, Shin Inoki Gun went over. This match was so significant for NJPW's future, as it kickstarted the Nakamura vs Tanahashi rivalry.
