When Sheamus won King of the Ring and gave him the King gimmick (like they always do now) and made him wear the weird crown with the red horns and people started calling him Lobster Head like in his original theme so they scrapped the crown.
Also the list of KOTR winners after the PPV was scrapped in 2002:

I just dunno why they always have to be king gimmicks now when that wasn't the case before.
