My theory is that since these shirts are only printed and made to order that these images on "merch" is just another avenue to help define a pro wrestler's character development and helps cement them as someone fans either cheer for or boo without directly telling fans who to cheer for or boo.
>You go to a show and and you walk through the gate. Right in front there is a merch kiosk has a "whats up turds" Swerve shirt and next to it you have a cool Kenny Omega shirt. They also happen to be against each other in the main event. Obviously you are not going to like the turd guy as an imprinted bias has been made. And when he fights you will be inclined not to cheer for him.
Or maybe not and I'm thinking to much into it. But Pro Wrestling at the levels of WWE and even AEW has a lot of money at stake. Every inch counts when leading a direction of a show that stands on the shoulders of suspension of disbelief.
