Work at AEW; got a breaking bit of news.
Discovery has killed the planned airing of the Punk/Perry security footage segment. They were livid that Tony was doing it, that it was the Bucks idea to do it (which he greenlit), and Tony admitted that the Bucks were personally preparing the footage, meaning that Tony basically admitted to his corporate network masters that the Bucks could very well be editing the footage to make Punk look bad and open Discovery up to a lawsuit for airing said doctor footage.
.
And Discovery basically called out the elephant in the room with Tony, point blank telling him he fucked up picking the Elite over Punk, ;et alone the hypocrisy they feel over Punk being fired by Perry still on the payroll and gave Tony the final ultimatum: he either fires the Bucks and Perry, or Discovery will cancel all AEW programming PLUS hold the company hostage for the remainder of the current contract; meaning AEW will be off of TV until early 2025.
Tony in turn caved and gave the call suspending the Bucks indefinitely and beginning negotiations to buy out their contracts and that of Jack Perry. The Bucks are furious, especially since they were set to finally get their big win back off of FTR at the next PPV and become the new tag champions.
The plan for Wednesday is to open with Tony announcing the Bucks are suspended indefinitely due ":to an announcement made on Collusion that had not been cleared by Discovery's legal divison and which would have opened AEW up to legal action relating to one of our former employees". And not mention the security tape will be mentioned again going forward.
As for the PPV, there is talk about pairing Okada and Ospreay up together as a makeshift tag team to face FTR in the finals, with an angle set where FTR will turn heel/bully Okada and Ospreay coming to his rescue and it being announced on Rampage that Okada and Ospreay will replace the Bucks in the finals match.
