It's that workrate > MODERN storytelling. I got into wrestling during the AE for the stories, I didn't think about the quality of matches at all. They were all exciting within the context of the story being told.
The problem is, modern wrestling storytelling is cucked and bluepilled, its not compelling at all except for the occasional glimmer like BCC or Judgement Day.
And it's been this way for 20 years now.
At some point, many of us had a mental switch go off in our heads -- if the storytelling sucks, but we still want to enjoy our favorite hobby, then we'll focus on match quality.
For me it started with Angle vs Benoit, and my love for technical workrate was organic. But it overtook my desire for storytelling not because it's superior, but because nobody tells good stories anymore.
