>>11143643The MJF match (the first time ever) was won by MJF cheating. MJF should have won Revolution, but nope, Phil had to go over, despite MJF putting in all the excellent character work - and stroking Phil's ego at the same time.
>>11143643Did he though? He had his big return, which did a good number - which would be the bare minimum - but ratings didn't suddenly skyrocket. Originally, that was put down to the AEW being on the West Coast or something. But considering they'd just got CM Punk, Adam Cole, and Bryan Danielson, I'd expected a bigger spike. Then they moved to TBS and AEW's first million streak was broken by Phil and his match with MJF. In fact, the only time they did break a million was either when Phil wasn't on the show or in a lesser role. In turn, various talent's momentum was killed (Wardlow's undefeated streak, Eddie Kingston, Darby, MJF, Hangman's title run - along with two years of storytelling and booking.) He wore political shirts pissing off the audience who either didn't agree, care, or just wanted to watch something without politics in it. PPV did go up, but if you look at AEW's PPVs you see them steadily growing. And that's the kicker, AEW was growing and doing fine before Phil arrived. All their momentum has been stifled by Phil and his insane ego and they have very little to show for it.
