Apparently he came in with an attitude like "I'm going to be a star after I'm out of this shithole" and so the Mexican talent decided to humble him. Hard. The NJPW office knew about it but didn't know how bad it was, so they let it go on as standard young lion hazing.
If you remember, his return to NJPW was weird. He was basically in the middle of a program, NJPW said "hey we need him back right now, heezo heezo" but then didn't debut him for months after.
Reading between the lines, something really fucked up happened and they had to get him out of there. I never heard anything more specific.
Could be just something someone made up, but I always felt like it had some truth to it.
TL;DR - anonymous rumors indicate a likely bullying / hazing situation that got way out of hand.
