I’m an insider with WBD. My sources say Zaslav is VERY unhappy with AEW’s numbers over the last 6 months. When they first scooped them up for cheap they expected about 600k weekly and while AEW has done better than that, their stagnant and often times sinking ratings since the debut are rubbing people the wrong way. They thought giving AEW the Big Bang Theory lead in would help them but their findings that most people tune out after the first 15 minutes of AEW are making many top heads of WBD very disappointed. On top of that a lot of advertisers have been getting complaints about the show from concerned viewers. Rights negotiations are coming up at the end of summer, so Zaslav has given Tony an ultimatum to get ratings back up to at least 1 million consistently or they will get a much much lower rights deal or, at worst, be cancelled from all Warner networks.
