Miyu is at least "cool" to them and her beating Mizuki in the tournament at least spells out that Mizuki can still retain the title, so the payoff is less predictable.
As someone who likes Miyu, I personally don't care. Nothing truly special is done to make title programs feel must-see and and one-note patterns like this aren't even something worth being upset about. 10th anniversary, she's the ace, she finally wins the tournament. Yippee
