Diesel in a way is like Roman Reigns and even Nash himself compares the two. Vince McMahon thought he could give Nash a gay af babyface character then just force him down people's throats until he caught on. But it didnt work. He did get over like Roman, but unlike Roman where people were outright rejecting him, the audience just really wasn't that bothered with wrestling at that point for Diesel to really become a big deal. Even WCW with Hogan around the time Nash was in WWF wasn't anything worth watching.
Like Roman you could tell Nash had something but there was no fire because everything felt manufactured and disingenuous.
When Nash went to WCW and got to be Nash himself just turned up to 1000% rather than Diesel that's him at his best. Same applies to Roman too, now he's getting to be himself instead of the phoney Big Dog crap all of a sudden he's cool to the audience.
Also it didn't help what happened in the Summer of 1992.
