>>5418211Benoit won the ECW title dropped it to Morrison a month later because WWE had to release him due to medical issues (like Angle) - then he went to TNA (like Angle).
Benoit won in an absolute classic against AJ Styles in his debut, considered by many to be the greatest match ever to take place in the 6-sided octagon. Unfortunately just as his feud with Samoa Joe was really gaining steam he was forced to retire and put in a mental hospital because he tried (and in this timeline failed) to kill his wife and son.
People in this timeline don't hate Benoit as they see him as a victim of muh mental health problems and not in control.
David Benoit debuted in WWE in 2018 with a gimmick somewhat similar to Pillman Jr of this timeline except not a loser. He eventually had a memorable feud with Dommy Mysterio (yes that's what he's called in this timeline for some reason) which ended in Benoit squashing Dommy at SummerSlam.
Not much else is different except for David Benoit being on the WWE then eventually AEW roster although (at least not yet) never making a huge impact.
Also Purple Edge never happened in this timeline presumably because without the death of his close friend, Edge never felt the misery in his heart necessary to create this dark and brooding character. He still had a match with AJ at WM but it was built up as face vs face. Although - similar to this timeline - Edge still got the assist from Priest and won the match turning heel and forming a new stable. He hadn't changed his song before WM but now with the new faction/gimmick (Silver Edge) he ended up changing his song to the same one in this timeline (Edge just likes that song).
The Silver Edge character is an anti-Semitic silver stacker meant to be a heel but is massively over as a face - getting bigger and bigger reactions every week - think Stone Cold at his peak - to the point that most people believe they are going to switch the unified championship to him in a surprise impromptu match at Backlash
