It was arguably the biggest opportunity in his entire career to not just cut a promo (it was fine) but he needed to go further than that by making people believe he's something more special than the countless guys Cena has worked with. Just being a wordsmith is not enough.
Everything Cena said was 100% true, he didn't bury him. And Theory had zero counter to it other than low hanging fruit like Cena balding or pointing out how his promo style is.
It was like Theory hesitated, didn't have that killer instinct or was maybe nervous or felt defeated by his safety wheels taken off.
This segment felt like a test that they were hoping Theory would ruthlessly jump on and stand out but he just froze or didn't have it in him.
