When Vader beat Inoki after Inoki's match with Choshu, people rioted and it turned into a huge controversy. At that time in the late 80s, wrestling wasn't as hot as it used to be so Inoki booked all of that (having a mainstream beloved celeb in Beat Takeshi involved and a mysterious big ass foreigner beating him) to generate heat and bring back the public interest to wrestling and he was massively successful at what he did. Even when the fans rioted, burned down the Sumo Hall and got himself banned from holding shows there, it was all very worth it. He then used Vader to further cement the Three Musketeers as the future's top faces of the company by booking him against them in three separate matches from 1989 to 1991.
