For the doubters its been said Edge was "unhappy with his creative" but if you look back at his public statements he basically got to do everything he wanted.

Finally got to work with Rey Mysterio.

And BTW he went over everyone, except Roman.
So yeah, the only thing he didn't get to do was be World Champion again. And IMO the stupid cinematic car ride, followed by the long walk to the ring for a run in spot to save Darby and Sting from have their brains splattered all over the ring prove it. That was a great match that was way better than it had any right to be going in, but they pulled it off, and then the entire thing was sacrificed during the finish so Edge could "have his moment" in the most grandiose self-mark way possible.
