Let me start by explaining how it would work. The sports entertainment division is a group of wrestlers, though they would be called something else AEW celebrities or something, who compete in AEW for a different set of sports entertainment titles, under a different rule set than your normal AEW match.
What are these rules? Each celebrity picks 6 signature moves and outside of the universal move list they are only allowed to perform those six moves. The universal move list is stuff like punch, gut kick, scoop slam, arm drag, hip toss etc. matches on tv have a 5 minute limit and 15 minutes on ppv.
Now, why do this? It’s a Trojan horse. Get WWE fans to tune into something familiar while teaching them the short comings of sports entertainment and how much more exciting wrestling is. Ideally this starts day 1 with Cody as the center piece. But you could even start it now with Jericho or Edge as the top guys. After a year or so you have them unify the titles across a huge wrestling vs sports entertainment storyline with wrestling coming up on top. Boom, many wwe fans converted to dedicate their life to wrestling and to banish sports entertainment.
