My best friend lost his mind to shoot schizophrenia. His only real escape was pro wrestling . We grew up fans of it, became wrestlers and started wrestling locally in the early 2000s. I would go over to his place every weekend and just play wrestling games with him , we’d play smack down HTCP, No Mercy , Fire Pro D, Giant Gram, KOC2 , all the great games .
We started wrestling together and formed a tag team called “DangerSick” based off Mastunaga in Big Japan since he was the master of the “danger match”. We were both huge marks of FMW, BJPW and All Japan. Dangerman got over in our local fed and he made lots of friend. An outsider found his place in life .
While in training for pro wrestling his kidneys became infected and he sorta started to lose total grip of reality . He got hospitalized and started drinking a lot. He was born with schizophrenia and medication helped keep it bay but this incident made him lose his mind. He started hallucinating hardcore in public and thought everyone was laughing at him. He tried starting fights with random strangers and would go missing for days . Eventually he left his apartment and no one could find him. His parents gave up trying to look for him and figured schizophrenia took over completely.
There’s a lot of people who watch wrestling who are handicapped and mentally ill . Somehow a thing that’s completely fake is the only real thing to these people .
