PROMO 8/10 not a good promo guy in the beginning but over time he got much better. He is infamous for bumble fucking his way through the numerous backstage pre tape promos when he was talking about pinning the berserker in saskatoon or whatever . Vince did do a good job protecting him in his early days as champ. He wasnt a natural and it took him along time to come out of his shell. his promos in 97 and onward were kino. Calling triple h and HBK homos and talking about how americans are degenerates is fucking great. Jim cornette used to complain about bret taking himself and the business too seriously (fucking hilarious coming from jim). He is a huge mark for himself. But he also really is bret the hitman hart. He is not playing a character and if he is saying something in a promo as a work, 90 percent of the time he believes it as a shoot. He truly BELIEVES he is the best, he believes triple h is a homo etc. The best characters and promos are ones that reflect real life. And wrestling is 100 percent real too bret hart. Once he hit his stride and got comfortable, he was awesome. no one was a better heel promo guy in 97. Even his shoots are great. He comes off as really bitter (he is) and complains about everything, but hes hilarious because he says shit no one else has the balls too say about vince, hogan, triple h or whoever. Heres one of brets best promos ever. He absolutely scorches DX kek.
