I felt that after the Undisputed//WWE title era, it was a step in a different direction with the audience they were wanting to capture. In terms of looking like a legitimate sports championship with presitigiousness and such, it more or less was the first step belt-wise to catering to the toy market and not being shamed about it.
Still....lot of good champions from this time, no doubt there.
