>It was an exceptional success for the WWE in general and for CM Punk in particular. People were praising his match and that’s all well and good, but the financials are where things really shine. They sold more CM Punk shirts in one night than anyone else there, and they sold out of everything above a size small. Punk outsold everyone else that night and outsold what Kevin Owens did in all of 2023 and what AJ Styles did in the entire first half of the year. To compare it to AEW, he outsold the combined merchandise of Hangman and Kenny Omega and his match got more critical acclaim than anything the Young Bucks did all year. They have a device in the stadium that measures noise, it’s designed to help hype up the crowd during basketball games but Punk’s reaction actually BROKE the device. They tested it by blaring the worlds largest air horn into it and yet Punk’s reaction actually BROKE the machine. WWEShop went down for a few minutes and actually so did the AEW shop because people were just going crazy for Punk merch, the arena was sold out, and people were desperately searching online for stuff. This kind of stuff doesn’t even happen at Wrestlemania, it’s unheard of.”
