His matches aged the worst if he was ever actually over I don't know. He's not good at selling despite portraying a white meat babyface and he doesn't have a good fiery come back. He was pushed because he wouldn't leave.
Even the nowe universally hated Bad Breed deathmatches have more to offer. I forget the show, but there's one where Ian and Axl get into a brawl, and it's decent, then Raven and Dreamer have a match right after, and it's the same idea, two hardcore dudes who hate each other, but Dreamer is doing a bunch of comedy spots and using fake weapons.
Even ECW's best event is dragged down by Tommy, Heatwave 98, that mainevent against the Dudleys, they had just broke the back and ended the career of his wife, so of course the match starts out with sloppy headlock takeovers..
