>>12221201I think we all wish the story had more to it but I think the real problem with this one (and this 100% booking in hindsight) is that this story could've worked if it was told in a different order instead of telling everybody however many weeks ago it was that Toni was already the number one contender.
Let's suppose this whole thing starts with that 4-way that Abadon ended up winning. You could've set this up with Toni losing her shit about how big of a star she is and she can't even make it into a qualifier with a bunch of midcarders and jobbers. From there on out, her personal mission is to troll or ruin every single women's title match for being disrespected. Eventually you get to where we were last week where Shida's finally had enough of this bullshit, hits Toni, and then agrees to put the title on the line against her in that interview. It's more or less the same story but now Toni's weekly antics actually serve as plot advancement.
Compare this to how the story was actually presented with her already having the shot where she just does shit for three weeks that doesn't advance the plot and is just being wacky for the sake wackiness. This is how you turn people off on the gimmick.
