>>11849865Oh please. Do you think TK handpicked Shida? No, Omega brought her over, like he did with Riho and Yuka, because, in the early days of the company, Kenny had that power - just like the Bucks and Rhodes did. EVPs wasn't just a meaningless title back then and Omega has always spoken well of the Joshis and has history with Shida.
The reality is that Shida gets over despite TK, who always seems to want to clip her wings. I've said it before, but I'll keep repeating it, Shida is to TK what Bret Hart was to Vince. An excellent worker, has great looks, has a genuine connection with the fans, and is a proven draw - but the promoter always had someone else they wanted instead because they don't see or want them to be the "guy".
It's a bitter pill, but as a Shida fan, I've come to realize that all of Shida's success in AEW is due to external factors, rather than because Tony Khan values her and sees her as one of his key women. And I resent the fuck of TK for it. And I'm tired of the bad-faith argument people try to spin against Shida. I also can't imagine that Saraya's actual fans are happy about this as well. Again, I can't in good faith that Saraya hasn't been trying, to her credit she has.
Once again I'll repeat, I don't want the entire division built around Shida. I may be Shidabro here - but I am also very much a Hayterbro, a Bunnybro, a Statlanerbro, and a Rihobro. I'm also happy to say I'm a Timeless Toni Bro - though Tonibro remains the King of that gimmick and I ain't going to infringe on it.
Moreover, building any division around one person is a perfect way to generate resentment and hostility - see Charlotte Flair, Britt Baker, John Cena, and Roman Reigns for obvious examples. This will also likely be the fate of Mercedes Mone when she arrives - because TK questionable booker most of the time, but when it comes to the women, he is absolutely one of the worst bookers I've ever seen.
I have more to write but I'm at my limit.
