>>15085103I say this from experience as someone who's played amateur basketball for a local team for about 2 years back in high school and a shitload of street ball in between for years as well as a ton of football (forma de soccer) since I was like 5 years old since I'm yuro of course and my dad was a footy coach, and 4 years doing karate when I was a kid.
There are just things you acquire doing sports in your formative years you really can't accomplish otherwise at least not in a post agricultural society. Your reflexes, hand eye coordination, explosiveness etc. once you form these things in your formative years they stick with you until you start degrading naturally. I'm nearing my mid 20s now, I haven't played anything properly in like 6 years and I've been smoking for that long too but the explosiveness and reflexes still remain, I'm almost as fast as I was when I was doing sports and the work ethic and pedigree is still there. I hate that I'm unironically saying this but a good example now would be Will Assplay. Being a Bong, he definitely played a lot of footy growing up and it shows in how crazy quick and explosive he is in his flippy shit compared to the average indieriffic American. Same with a guy like PAC. Only problem is, they never gathered the ever so elusive clue.
Definitely the things the other replies mentioned as well, but this is just my take from the things I personally experience
