I'm really not trying to defend AEW here. This whole ordeal is a fucking disaster on all levels. If it was planned to be just a Collision, why the fuck book a stadium and call it Grand Slam? You're telling me you booked an overseas stadium show on the same day as the NBA All-Star game and your plan was to show it on TNT? Very clearly another instance of them just doing shit with zero research. I love they booked this one months in advance with no clue how it was going to air, but they don't announce their actual TV tapings until like 3 weeks out and then wonder why they can't fill a civic center.
Did anyone else notice that in the same statement, Tony said it was always supposed to be for TV and like two sentences later said that TNT recently came to him with the idea of airing it after the NBA?
Are the cocaine jokes real? What's the basis for it? Because I can 100% believe that Tony is geeked out of his mind doing this. Only way it makes any sense. I do imagine that doing massive rails of what I assume is really good shit and then blowing through hundreds of millions to play booker is fun as hell.
