They were so royally fucked within that period:
Austin had already left earlier
Rock fully phased out that year for Hollywood
Goldberg and Brock left after WM that year
Cena was literally just starting to phase out of the comedic heel white boy rapper gimmick within that year, and was transitioning to a legit main eventer and star
Batista and Orton were getting pushed but both hadn't fully broken out on their own yet away from the Triple Nose/Evolution association
WWE was fucked during that period until Cena, Batista and Orton started really being big deals as solo stars in 2005 onwards
